I’ve just learned about Inkscape, an ‘open source scalable vector graphics editor’ that would appear to work well with Google SketchUp via .dxf (save) and .dxf (import). There is an old topic on the SCF which has been resurrected which shows the above image that was created in Inkscape and imported to SketchUp here
